I think in the author community we get a little launch crazy.
We get excited about our book launches and then forget about our back catalogue.
But there are actually ways that you can revive your older books.
Bear in mind this doesn’t always have to be something drastic like a full re-launch, which would mean new ASINs, a new cover and everything else that involves.
You can make small changes and test them out in order to see if there is a chance for reviving your back list without something drastic.
The easiest, quickest tweak is to either add or change your subtitle.
I am seeing this all over the place, where the cover is maybe not perfect for the genre.
Or perhaps the title is a little too clever, but with a quick subtitle change or addition could direct the reader.
For example, a subtitle that shows the book is a young adult fantasy novel, such as, “Blob: A YA Fantasy Novel”.
Even just that tiny tweak there can make a big difference.
You could also try out getting a pre-made cover just for maybe the first book in the series to test it out.
A new pre-made cover could well be better than the one you got a few years ago.
Then you can also try tweaking the book description, either getting a professional to do it or making some small tweaks.
You might even change only the hook of your description, then run a hundred Amazon ad clicks and see how well it converts.
